Cultivate Self-confidence, YOUR VIBRATIONS Vol. 3, No. 6

If you have been reading my newsletter for any length of time, then you know that my work has to do with helping you connect to the Divine, within you and outside of you. I know that, too. But I have also struggled continuously, over the years, to allow myself to know it. Who am I to know anything about connecting to the Divine? As if I had learned to maintain a constant sense of connection, as if I never fell out of touch. What do I know of these matters, without a religion to help me shape my understanding, without a ready-made community to show me what that looks like? Those are the thoughts that sometimes stop me in my tracks when I am trying to do my work.

And then, I feel more disconnected than ever, and I wonder what I have been trying to do all these years. You know how it is when the chattering mind takes over and fills us with the thick, muddy energy of self-doubt.

That could be the end of the story. But I have learned to short-circuit that process. If I don't, then I will remain paralyzed, in pain and disconnection, needing to find comfort in things that will only apparently provide it, leaving me hungering even more, and keeping me from sharing my unique gifts with the world.

You know how this goes, don't you? Self-doubt is no stranger to you, either. You have felt paralyzed to do the things that you long to do, to feed your soul and follow your Path because of the chatter in your mind. And the result has been that your authenticity, the gifts that only you, in all the world, can offer the people you love and the rest of us, has been locked away, stifled, unable to come through.

When I realize that I am slopping through the muck of self-doubt, I need only the fortitude to remember that I can choose to clear that energy. I need only the fortitude to remember that there are tools to help me raise my vibrations to align with who I really am and do what I came to this life to do.

I have a huge toolkit of resources for this, but today I will share with you the two that have consistently helped me. Hopefully they will work as well for you!


SHIFTING FROM SELF-DOUBT TO EMPOWERMENT

Find a time and place where you can focus on yourself uninterrupted, and bring a journal and pen with you. If you have Reiki II, use the distance symbol to connect to your Authentic Self and any guidance available to you. On the page, draw CKR and SHK, because you are trying to shift the energy in your feelings. With Reiki I, allow the energy to flow through your hands as you do the exercise. If you don't have Reiki, just hold the intention that this exercise will help you raise your vibrations.

Now write all the thoughts that your mind is chattering about and that fill you with self-doubt. If that is what you are hearing, write all the ways you put yourself down, all the things that have happened in the past that the chatter reminds you of in order to stop you. Write down all the 'what- ifs.' Give yourself lots of time and space, and let yourself feel what the thoughts do to you. But, as you write, notice how the conviction seems to sap out of what you are putting down. If you do it long enough, the negative energy seems to leach away.

When that happens, allow yourself to write of what you feel is possible, what could be, even if you don't know for sure yet, if it IS. Write about what you believe is possible and then let yourself write what has been true, what you have experienced that worked, that felt right, that filled your being. Remember on the page, with all of your senses, the moments when you felt aligned, when you were living your truth, no matter how far back that was. Watch your energy move into possibility and positivity.

Once you have felt the shift, you can choose to stop. But even better yet, keep writing, in positive, affirmative tones, in the present tense, what you wish were true. Imagine yourself, on the page, as you would like to be, and let that energy fill you, feed you, and release that Self to the world.


EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHINQUE

A quick way to deal with self-doubt, once you've learned it, is EFT, a technique in which you tap energy meridians while thinking of the issues you are trying to clear, and, through the tapping, release the energy connected to them. You can teach yourself how to do it by going here.

When you are trapped by self-doubt, you can follow the process I write about, above, while doing EFT. You just allow your self-doubt free reins while you tap away. When you feel the energy shift, you let yourself imagine what is possible and keep tapping, and finally, you seal the positive energy while tapping and affirming that what you wish for is already true.

Try it, and see for yourself how wonderfully it works! Try it on every negative emotion or thought that comes your way and watch your life change!

Self-doubt serves no-one. You are unique, like no other person, and you have gifts that no one else can offer the world. Do not let self-doubt keep you from sharing yourself with the rest of us. We need you!
